1. What the Domain Sources dashboard shows

Domain Sources is your dashboard for understanding which websites AI models actually cite when they answer prompts in your category.

It shows citation share over time, a category breakdown of cited domains, and a sortable table of the top sources with drill-down to each domain's detail page.

2. Why knowing your AI citation sources matters

AI answers are only as good as the sources they rely on for grounding. The domains that get cited again and again are effectively shaping how AI assistants describe your category, your competitors, and you.

Knowing which sources matter lets you:

  • Identify publications and platforms worth earning mentions or backlinks from.

  • Spot competitors who are winning the citation game.

  • Understand whether your own domain is pulling its weight as a source.

  • See category-level patterns, for example, whether your space is dominated by review sites, editorial media, or community platforms like Reddit.

3. How ALLMO aggregates citations, trends, and categories

Domain Sources aggregates every citation from every response across the prompts in your report. It respects the filters you apply (models, date range, tags, language, country), so you can slice the view by the context you care about.

The page gives you three angles:

  • Citations Over Time: a trend chart with daily, weekly, or monthly aggregation. Each bucket recalculates citation share, so you see how the mix of sources shifts, not just the raw volume.

  • Website Share by Category: a circle chart showing what types of sources dominate (editorial, community, e-commerce, vendor sites, etc.).

  • Top Domain Sources: a sortable table with citation counts, share, and a link to each domain's detail view.

The table only shows the top 15 domains, click on "View all domains" option appears when that happens.

4. How to analyze citation share and top domains

  1. Open Domain Sources inside your report.

  2. Apply shared filters at the top: models, date range, tags, country, language.

  3. Use the time-series chart to spot trends. Weekly aggregation is usually most useful for monthly reporting; daily is better for investigating sudden changes.

  4. Check the category donut to understand the structural shape of citation sources in your category.

  5. Sort the Top Domains table by the metric that matters to you (share, citation count, trend).

  6. Click into any domain to see which of your prompts cite it, how often, and in which models.

5. How to build an off-site strategy from citation data

You show up in the top domains table: Good. Keep publishing and keep those pages indexed. Use Page Validation to make sure your most-cited URLs stay visible.

You don't show up at all: Your content isn't being used as a source in your own category. The fix is usually some combination of:

  • Getting more pages indexed (Page Validation + Warm-up).

  • Creating content that directly answers the prompts your customers ask.

  • Earning mentions on the domains that are being cited.

Here are some ideas how to increase your visibility it:

  • A single domain dominates your category: That's your reference point. Study what they're doing that makes them citable, then build content that's at least as good on the specific angles AI models care about.

  • Reddit, Quora, or forums show up heavily: Community content is a major AI citation source. Your strategy may need to include genuine community participation, not just owned-media publishing.

  • Citation mix changes over time: Models update their retrieval behaviour regularly. A sudden drop in a specific source can signal that models re-weighted what they trust. Track this monthly.

  • A competitor's domain grew sharply: Open their domain detail view to see which prompts cite them. That's your competitive intel: the exact queries they're winning.

  • Leverage trusted sources for your own content: Informational, academic, and governmental domains signal high trust. Reference these sources in your own content to strengthen how AI models perceive and ground your pages.

  • Identify backlink opportunities: Editorial media and articles from indirect competitors are often an opportunity for paid or earned backlinks. Reach out to them to get included in their content and earn backlinks that feed into AI grounding.
